Suggest Treatment For Persistent Ear Pain

Hi, My name is Ashok, 35 yr old. I frequently get ear pain in left ear. This is because of fungal infection. I use candibiotic ear drop whenever i get pain. The left ear operated twice because of hole in the ear drum. Even after operation no improvement in hearing. Please suggest me is there any permanent solution?

Hi,

Noted your history of recurrent fungal infection and pain in left ear, uses Candibiotic drops, left ear was operated twice but no improvement in hearing.
The most probable causes of recurrent fungal infection in operated ear can be due to the following reasons:
Diabetes or any medicine or condition which reduced immunity.
Local irregular skin, continuous wetness.
Swimming.
wrong medicines in ear .
Your habit of self cleaning.
The cause of no improvement in hearing should be found out whether there is conductive deafness due to blocked ear, fungal balls, bone chain disruption.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Consult your ENT Surgeon and get the proper cleaning of the ear followed by plain Candid ear drops, do not use combination ear drops.
Audiometry and CT with MRI of the mastoids and nerves will help to get a proper diagnosis and thus allow further management for avoidance of fungus and improve hearing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
