Suggest Treatment For Persistent Fever In An Infant

We have a 8 month old baby that has been running a fever 2 or 3 days. Today it went up to 103.8, he s been fussy, not eating good, has had diarrhea off & on, starting yesterday. Eyes a little puffy, a little stuffy at times, sneezing off & on for a couple days, now sounds hoarse. We took him to his Doctor on Fri. & ears, nose, throat were clear & fever was down. Got home & fever was back up. Have a call into the Doctors nurse. Any suggestions would be appricated.

Hello,

I think your 8 months old baby is going through a viral infection with upper respiratory tract infection (eyes puffy, stuffy at times, sneezing off&on, hoarse sound) and gastroenteritis (diarrhea on&off, not eating good).

Keep well hydrated, especially plain water with oral rehydration salts, tea.
Do not give him food he does not like.
Give fruit juice freshly made.

Good he is not having infection. But ask to run urine analysis to rule out urinary tract infection that is common. Plus, check his teeth, sometimes, teething is also accompanied with such issues.

Teething gel can help.
