Suggest Treatment For Persistent Headaches While On Flecainide
Hi, thank you for taking my questions. I have a fib, and take Toprol (3oo mgs per day) and Flecainde (200 mg per day) I have an appt. with an elctro-physiologist in one month to talk about the possibility of AV Node Ablation. For now, my question is --- is there any effective way to treat the persistent dull throbbing headache I have because of the Flecanide use? Does AVNode Ablation result in not having to take Flecainide? I have a pace maker (as of 8-31-7) and am having episodes of tacycardia. Thank you again for any advice or suggestions. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Have you tried something like Tylenol or Acetaminophen? Either of those agents may relieve the headache you're talking about when taken according to the label instructions. Depending on the dose you are taking it may be possible to reduce the medication in order to see if the headache might go away. However, this would be up to the doctor treating you to make that decision. Even after nodal ablation for cases of atrial ablation patients can continue to take medication. The only type of procedure that tends to reliever patients of having to be on any type of medications for arrhythmia is placement of a pacemaker.
Hope I have answered your query.
