Suggest Treatment For Persistent Itching

I have severe itching. I moved from Colorado to Missouri. In CO, my doctor diagnosed me as pre-diabetic & with lesser kidney function . I noticed that my itching dialed down to 0 when I cut way down on sugar foods and drinks. My insurer, Kaiser Permanente is not in MO. Switched to Aetna-Coverntry Gold Advantage. My doctor here noticed a problem using the stethescope. Did an EKG & an echocardiogram. Prescribed Coreg 3.125. Sent me to a cardiologist who prescribed Entresto 24/26 mg. and ordered 2 tests: Cardiac Catheterization and Transesophagel Echocardiogram. Since taking the Entresto, I ve developed itching (without a rash). It s much worse than what I had in Denver. I did some searching on the mayo clinic and web md websites. Out a couple hundred thousand people who were on Entresto, 211 developed itching. I reported this to the doctor s nurse. Her response was keep taking it. After several miserable days, I discontinued it for 2 days. The itching subsided, so I began taking Entresto again. In less than two days I was itching again. I stopped taking the Estresto, but the itching goes on. Neither benadryl (50 mg) taken orally, OTC anti-Itch cream (diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 2%), Zinc acetate,1%, do nothing to relieve the itching. The 2 last tests are not until 17 May. What else can I do to relieve the itching?

Hi,

As I can see through your query you have already tried all the over the counter medications. You can try steroid shots prescribed by your doctor. If the symptoms continue you should consult your doctor about an alternative medication form Entresto.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
