Suggest Treatment For Persistent Knee Pain Caused By Arthritis
I have arthritis in the left knee. I periodically get a cortisone shot in that knee and it works for several months. But sometimes in between I will get a sharp, pain behind my knee that forces a limp for a brief time. I stretch my leg out and take tylenol when that happens for some comfort. Then it will go away for a long time, but popup suddenly for seemingly no reason. I take an exercise class but only do the slight squats, no lunges. Advice?
Since you are already taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) as a pain killer and it is providing you a relief. You already took some steroid shots in your knee as well.
My suggestion to you is to continue limb strengthening exercises and continue taking Tylenol as per the pain scale. If it's not settling with this drug then, use NSAIDs like aceclofenac/diclofenac for the pain relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr SAMEEN BIN NAEEM, General & Family Physician
