Suggest Treatment For Persistent Nausea And Diarrhea

I began with nausea, then vomiting and diarrhea five days ago. The vomiting lasted one night, some residual nausea, but the diarrhea continues. I felt I was improving yesterday, tried to eat a grilled cheese sandwich. Otherwise, just sipping on water. The cramping, watery diarrhea and nausea are back. No fever, some chills, a bit weak right now after a long bout in the bathroom. Should I try Immodium or let whatever it is run (literally) out of my system.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the issue of persistent nausea and diarrhea indicate underlying gastric or intestine infection through some sort of bacteria or virus most likely.

* As there is the duration of a week passed since onset, intake of proton pump inhibitors, GI specific antibiotics, and prebiotics with lactobacillus will help great in this regard to clear the infection faster.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
