Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My toes have been numb often in the last couple of years; the sense of numbness starts behind the ball of my foot. I m 76 years old and don t have diabetes and enjoy good health. I m not sedentary, not overweight, and I eat well. Except for flour and pasta and other grains and pulses, I eat fresh food from my garden or from local farmers. For many years I have been prone to breaks in the veins of my fingers and toes; there s a somewhat painful flood which looks bruisy, but it goes away. Could this be related? The only medications I use are levothyroxine and Flonase, plus occasionally my inhaler at night to clear nasal drainage that gets stuck in my airway while I m asleep. Is this foot numbness anything of concern? Thank you!
Numbness of the toes is commonly due to the wearing of ill-fitting footwears, compression of the nerve causes numbness due to compression of the nerve & poor blood supply.
Stay away from substance abuse or chronic alcoholism, they trigger the symptoms.
