Suggest Treatment For Persistent Sore Throat

My daughter has had sore throat for a few days. Went to dr today. Strep test and mono test were negative but tonsils very swollen. (She s 21). They sent culture off but put her on penicillen in the interim. After she took the first dose she started irinating excessively. 2-3 times an hour. No discomfort. No excessive thirst. Has taken no antihistamines. But is going 2-3 times an hour and waiting as long as she can between.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an ENT specialist and start on antibiotics preferably amoxiclav. You can do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. In severe cases, a throat swab can be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
