Suggest Treatment For Persistent Spotting

I ve had issues with spotting for the better part of a year now. I ve tried a few different types of birth control pills, recently switched to an IUD, but nothing seems to work. I ve had a pelvic exam and a pelvic ultrasound and everything was normal. Is there anything else I can do?

Hi,
Thanks for asking. I have read & understood the concern.
I think spotting you have is not from uterus. It can be extra uterine bleeding due to..cervical erosion or inflammation/ cervical polyp/ pelvic infection.
Some times urethral infection/ stones/ bladder infection can lead to such bleeding which is missed for vaginal bleeding.
Similarly rectal fissure / external or internal piles bleeding can be missed for vaginal bleeding.
Proper internal examination by a gynecologist/ investigations would help in pin pointing the cause & specific treatment would solve your problem.

Hi, I think you should do a thyroid profile and prolactin levels. Thyroid disorders can also lead to irregular spotting. You can try some progesterone containing pills starting from day 1 of your cycle. If you have already tried that, you can go for TCRE or TBA. Discuss with your doctor regarding this. Hope I have answered your question.
