Suggest Treatment For Persistent Stomach Pain In A Child

My daughter is 14 1/2 years old. She has been experiencing stomach pains in the center of her stomach - around or above her belly button. We haven t kept track of what she is eating although I created a log to do so. Today it started during her kickline practice. Before kickline, she ate an apple and cheetos (not the best combination). I think the last time she had it she had watermelon before she went to kickline. I m concerned maybe she has a hernia?? and it s being aggravated with her kickline activity. Or does she have an allergy of some sort - maybe fruit? Thank you for your help!!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The transient pain in stomach around or above belly button may be part of various possible issues as

- intestine colic
- early appendicitis with referred pain
- food or water induced
- others

The hernia does not present in this regard. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do suggest an examination with ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis to find out the root cause and manage accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
