Suggest Treatment For Persistent Swelling On Ankles

I have had swollen ankles for several weeks & am noticing I have rings around both ankles (indentations) just above the ankle bones. I am on Furosemide, potassium, digoxin, metoprolol & Lisinopril. Do any of these meds cause this problem? I am getting quite concerned & have an appt. with my primary care physician next week, but I would like an opinion from a specialist

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that the rings may be due to fluid accumulation. Build up of fluid typically causes darkening of skin and other skin changes.

Though persons react differently to medication, not likely related to the meds mentioned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
