Suggest Treatment For Persistent Uncontrollable Cough And Cold

I had a terrible cold for a week at Christmas. Then another brief cold in mid January When I had the cold the coughing was uncontrollable. Every time I would time to talk more than a word or two the coughing would start it was difficult to calm it. Since then I can t shake the cough. I have been a teacher for 30 years and I rarely get the colds, viruses etc. by the end of the teaching day the coughing is interfering with the job. In the evening I just try not to talk. I am tired of cough drops, tea and honey. What can I do?
