Suggest Treatment For Pimple On Nose And Swelling In Inner Corner Of Eye

Hello I have what seems to be a blind pimple on the top left side of the bridge of my nose. It is the second day and the inner corner of my eye is now swollen. Is this normal? If so, how can I treat the pimple in order to keep my eye from swelling more than what it is now? How do I take the selling away completely?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query regarding pimple and swollen eyes.

I would keep a possibility of Furuncle/boil, which is bacterial infection with acne or pimple over the bridge of nose.

The infection might gain entry through the hair follicle.

The best way to approach is to start on an empirical oral antibiotic for minimum 3 to 5 days (Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg daily three times or cephalexin 500mg twice daily or cefadroxil 500mg twice daily).

This would take care of the infection.

Antibiotics may be extened up to 7 days to produce a noticeable improvement.

An OTC antibacterial cream/ointment e.g 2% mupirocin can be applied twice daily.

An OTC pain killer e.g ibuprofen once or twice daily would help you deal with the pain and reduce swelling and discomfort.

If the lesion doesn't respond or continue to enlarge, it may have to be incised to drain the pus.

For which you may need to see dermatologist or ophthalmologist for once.

Regards,
