Suggest Treatment For 'pins And Needles' Sensation On Upper Back

Hello, I am a 60 yr old female with type 2 diabetes. I noticed some years ago that if I had a coughing fit I would get the worst case of pins and needles across my upper back, now I notice that even if I strain even just a little bit eg. using bowels, and I am not straining. They really hurt. It is not like normal pins and needles its much worst, however there is no other pain and it goes very quickly.
