Suggest Treatment For Pneumonia Infection In A Child

hi good afternoon, i just want to ask, my niece is 4 months old now, she diagnosed of having a pneumonia, and her doctor gave her ambroxol .5 ml 3 times daily, but unfortunately, the doctors assistant gave her 5ml of ambroxol instead of .5, can u ive me some advice, and is theres any side effects to the baby..?

Hi,

The mistaken dose which was 10 times high can be problematic in many instances.

If there is any of the following, immediate concern should be there:
- Respiratory pattern alteration.
- Unusual tremors or body shaking.
- Very high pulse.
- Altered sensorium.

Even if the baby is fine, you must notify the authorities to get the child evaluated once to avoid any hassles in coming time.

Another management of pneumonia with an intravenous antibiotic, supportive care is equally important.
