Scanning reports impression was: Polycystic kidneys (early stage) and fatty liver ...Please suggest me how much time it take to recover fatty liver and how much time i have to stop drinking..THanks in advance
Hello and welcome to HCM, Fatty change in liver is a reversible condition which reverts back to normal if the cause is removed. Alcohol is the commonest cause of fatty liver. Abstinence of alcohol completely will help to revert the fatty change in liver. In addition, you lab reports are showing elevated levels of direct and indirect bilirubin. These values will also come back to normal once alcohol is avoided. Resumption of alcohol consumption can again lead to fatty change thus it should be avoided completely. Polycystic kidney does not require any treatment if it remains asymptomatic. I suggest you to get your kidney function tests to assess the status of kidneys. If they are within normal limits, nothing needs to be done and close follow up is required.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
