General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Today’s lifestyle and expectations of parents from them make everything stressful for their children. There are other factors like personal life, studies, relationships also influence a person’s state of mind.

Your son might be having trouble regarding something which is making him anxious. I would say as parents, you know him better so initiate a talk and ask him whats bothering him or any problem that he is not able to deal with. Assure him about your support as parents and make him talk about any issue he is having currently.

Other things like talking to a psychiatrist are the next best thing I would suggest because mental health is as important as physical health. If needed the doctor will prescribe some medicines to bring down the anxiety and stress, he can also advise you to see a psychotherapist and few counselling sessions with the psychotherapist will make him open up about things that are troubling him. Talking is the best thing during such times, make sure you encourage him and support him. Also, help him socialize more and connect with friends.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
