Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 53 yr old male and my colonoscopy showed 5 large precancerous polyps which were all removed . My Dr said he took tissue from all sections of my colon and they all showed precancerous cells these were different from the polyps. He stated they have never seen this before and tried to figure out what could cause this result. He said they usually see this in one or two sections but not every section they did a biopsy. Is this common? He wants to do another colonoscopy in 3 months should I have it done sooner. Should I have surgery which he said I will need if the test comes back the same as the first one.
In case of satellite depositions of foreign tissues, which are as much as 5 in number, your doctor will do several tests to verify that the tissues are completely removed after surgery. In case the levels of pancreatic secretions are higher, or present in abnormal amounts in abnormal places, they will suggest another surgery, and may opt for radical surgery in case its life threatening as pancrease is also a gland and having too much of it can surely hamper your body.
Though we still dont know what tests your surgeon has prescribed and what were corresponding levels to estimate the size and number of such lesions.
Hope to have informed you sufficiently
