General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The absence of trauma makes the cause difficult to establish without examination and evaluation. I will suggest that he sees his doctor for evaluation and an x-ray. This is more so because the use of Tylenol and Ibuprofen have failed to control his pain. He will also benefit from physical therapy to avoid having a reduced range of movement at this joint.

In the interim, appropriate pain control is okay. I will go with Tylenol and Ibuprofen while pending evaluation. After seeing his doctor, he might benefit from more potent pain medications if the pain persists.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
