Suggest Treatment For Problem With Cognitive Thoughts, Memorizing And Understanding Concepts

My forehead is hot, I have trouble with cognitive thoughts, memorizing and understanding concepts. It feels like all my thinking is at the top of my skull. I am 20 years old. Is there any way to increase my memory and understand things? I also believe I have problems in these areas; critical thinking, creative thinking, systems thinking, scientific thinking, interdisciplinary thinking, and emotional intelligence. I am not sure how to approach this. I am trying meditation, but I feel to awake to relax. I don't want to do pills, but would rather use exercise, meditation, and more importantly have techniques I can use for my brain.

Hello there,
First of all let me commend you on your self analysis. To be able to use technical terms and tell exactly which part of your thinking needs work is a very good ability.

Now I would also tell you its pitfalls. As doctors, one thing that ticks them off is somebody self diagnosing themselves. As in you make an appointment with a doctor and tell him what you feel is missing, but the more technical your description is the less interested he/she will be as they would feel that you are trying to teach them what to do. I know it is not fair but that is human nature.

Meditative techniques help you focus better. So does yoga and pranayam. Also the lower you are on social media the longer your concentration times. One thing which can be tried is having a clock on top of a tv screen and focussing on the second hand while the tv is on. You will get distracted by the Tv but you have to get your focus back to the second hand. The longer you are able to focus the better it helps your concentration.

Regarding pills there are herbs like Brahmi and gingko biloba which help your concentration and cognitive function. They are available as pills and have shown some beneficial effects in a diverse population.

Hope this helps,

Please feel free to address any further queries to me,
