Suggest Treatment For Productive Cough Despite Taking Doxycycline Hyclate
My son has had a productive cough for 4 weeks as well as some congestion. He was put on Doxycycline Hyclate for 10 days and told to take zyrtec D, mucenex and flonase as well. He is not seeing any improvement after two weeks. He is coughing up brown/yellow/green phlem yet. We are not sure if it is a sinus infection, he hasn t ever had fall allegies so not sure what next steps should be?
Next step is to check sputum for microscopy and culture sensitivity. Take chest x-ray and blood investigation to rule out infection or tuberculosis. Avoid cool'drinks and freeze water, avoid smoking. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
