My son is 26 years old & was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when he was 18 years old. He was put on Lialda, 6 pills a day. Was never in remission. In May of 2014, his condition became severe. In July , he was started on remicade infusions. In March of 2015 he had a serious reaction to it. He was put on apriso, mescal amine enema, VSL#3, cortifoam, Canasa & florastor. He was put on prednisone in the hope to stop his bleeding so he could be started on simponi injections. He never stopped bleeding so after 6 weeks he stopped taking simponi & continued him on apriso & prednisone. He is bleeding & has diarrhea between 5-10 times a day. We are so desperate because his doctor said he is not responding to anything. He visited a doctor who specializes in acupuncture & chinese herbal medicine on Wednesday, who performed acupuncture & started him on 2 supplements, Shen ling bai zhu pian & Xiang lian wan. 6 of each, twice a day.
