Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern for your mother.
It appears from your description that your mom is suffering from acute exacerbation of chronic asthma. In such a situation when
wheezing is continuous with breathing difficulties, she needs to be treated by admission in to a hospital.
She needs to be examined clinically and with investigation of chest x-ray.
She would require antibiotic treatment for infection (if present),
oxygen inhalation to maintain the saturation and nebulisation to clear her airways. She might need a tapering dose of systemic
steroids to attain stability in such acute state. You need Respiratory Physician or Pulmonologist to attend to it.
Once she is stabilized, she can be put on the following medications:
1. Solbutamol inhaler
2.
Formoterol Fumarate rotocaps
3.
Montelukast and Levocetrizine
That will help her to overcome most of the symptoms to be under good control and lead a normal life.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
