Suggest Treatment For Pruritus Despite Taking Hydroxyzine

I have had pruritus from using Ipratropium Bromide for 2 months, none of my physicians seem to know what to do for it. Sleeping is almost impossible because of the itching as that is when it is the most severe. I was given hydroxyzine 25mg by my primary physician but 25mg doesn t ease it. The script reads 25x2.5ml via nebulizer every 6 hrs. Is there anything else that would prevent the issue?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from Prurigo Simplex.

My treatment advice is:
1. Do not scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like Mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
