Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
Upper zone infiltrate on chest x ray is seen most commonly in tuberculosis.
So get done sputum examination for AFB to confirm tuberculosis.
Treatment of tuberculosis consists of two phases.
1. Intensive Phase
2. Continuation phase.
In intensive phase four drugs are given.
Rifampicin 450 mg, Isoniazid 300 mg, Pyrazinamide 1250 mg and Etambutol 800 mg. All 4 drugs are given for two months.
In continuation phase only two drugs, Rifampicin and Isoniazid are given for 4 months.
So treatment of tuberculosis is lengthy. Better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and start treatment.
