Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I has pus discharge in my right ear and ENT doctor prescribed me Candibiotic ear drops 3drops 3times for 2weeks and Ciplox tz for 5days. Asked me to go back for a review after 2weeks. After a week my ear discharge was stopped and was much better without pain. But since I was asked to use candibiotic drops for another week I was using it without fail. Suddenly one night I got severe piercing pain in the ear and had giddiness with vomit. After review I got to know I have small center ear perforation in the ear. And she informed me telling it will heal on its own. Now I feel it is coz of the ear drops I used. Please let me know whether the hole will close on its own and now again I hear some sort of sound inside my ear and I am totally depressed.
As per your complain pus discharge from ear along with pain is a clear indication of infection and the medication given to you are appropriate but many a times due to severe infection there is perforation in the eardrum..
Giddiness and piercing pain along with sounds in ear also known as Tinnitus can be due to inner ear infection and perforated ear drum..
I would suggest you to consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Otoscopy, x-ray and MRI Scan can be done to rule out the cause and treatment can be done accordingly..
Many a times small perforations gets resolved on its own when the infection subsides but in case if the infection is severe and resistant and does not get better then a course of antibiotics and painkillers along with antibiotic and painkiller eardrops can be advised for relief.. At times pressure equalisation tubes can be advised.. Surgical patching of eardrum can help in case if the perforation does not resolve with medication..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
