Suggest Treatment For Rashes On Abdomen, Arms And Legs Of An Elderly Person
My 81 year old mother has had a skin rash (arms, upper legs, breast, abdomen for almost 9 months. Has seen primary care an dermatologist who have prescribed OTC cream and several (expensive) creams, Has not helped and now she has developed blisters (bubbles) on her arms. Use clear laundry detergent and have tried antihistamines, vacuumed her apartment including furniture and mattress. What now?
The following are few probable causes of your mother's skin rash: 1) Allergic contact dermatitis 2) Hypersensitivity to drugs 3) Erythema multiforme 4) Scabies 5) Heat rash
Treatment consists of the following: 1) Topical corticosteroids 2) Oral antihistamines 3) Immunomodulators like Tacrolimus 4) If it doesn't subside, oral corticosteroids are prescribed 5) Identification of irritant or allergen and removing it
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
