Suggest Treatment For Rashes On Arms After Insect Bite

My 16 yr old son got stung by what he believes is nettles. This happened on a trip to Poland - returned this morning and noticed a red line going from his wrist to just above elbow. Saw gp this afternoon who gave antihistamine and anti biotic if no better by this eve/tomorrow morning. At 5pm he said line had advanced a little so started ab. Took 2nd dose this eve, but then noticed that although faint the line is now almost at his arm pit. I m worried - he s gone off to sleep...am I ok waiting to see how he is in the morning? The dose is 500 twice a day though can t recall name of ab.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

This could be an antibiotic. I recommend checking for Lyme disease, in order to exclude a possible tick bite. You should discuss with his doctor on this test. In the meantime, the situation seems to be stable. There is no need to panic!

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
