Suggest Treatment For Rashes On Back, Chest And Forehead

Hello I'm a white male 34 Years 165 lbs. i have a rash on my back, chest, forehead, temple area and on top of my head it burns and skin rubs off. the rash comes and goes. my feet swell to occasionally and bones hurt. I've had rash and bone pain for like 6 - 8 years i now have acute insomnia since june 2011 haven't slept in 60
+ days I'm certain its from some brain infection but test show normal it completely frustrating I'm losing hope. cbc test and liver test etc show normal. CAT scan showed normal too. Do i Need an MRI and spinal tap? STREP A is negative too. What could it be? i was thinking virus or fungus and how can we determine what species it is if its a fungus? thanks

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

Did you consult a Dermatologist at any point for these complaints. Going by your details, I feel its necessary to rule out possibilities of psoriasis with associated joint pain (psoriatic arthritis) or other disorders with skin and other system involvement like lupus etc. The insomnia may or may not be related. If an infection is suspected, a sample will be examined in the laboratory.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dinah Levillard, Dermatologist
