Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Hand And Elbow

I have been dealing with a rash since Dec. of 2015 on my hands and elbows. Been to an allergist and she claims that I am being in contact with something that is causing this. I thought maybe it s a food allergy but she said if it was that I would break out all over my body. When I scratch, of course it gets bumpy and red. I don t know if I need to see a dermatologist or get a second opinion for an allergist because this lady I m seeing now hasn t even recommended to do an allergy test.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on the hand and elbow . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like contact dermatitis , allergic reaction due to detergent, soap , fragrance , chemical, metal such as in jewelry, poison oak or ivy, an animal bite, and an insect sting. protect the rashes from direct sunlight . I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antihistamine , corticosteroid ointment and immunosuppressants , anti inflammatory. Avoid touching or pricking rashes. For now take benadryl twice a day , apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product .
