Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Penis

Hi there, Recently I noticed a rash on the glans of my penis. It was getting worse and the skin broke in some places. I saw a doctor, who prescribed me mometasone furoate cream and said it was the result of an irritant. I have since cut out using anything besides sorbolene-based cream to wash under my foreskin. The steroid cream works to clear up the redness and mild pain, however as soon as I have sex or there is any friction to the area, the problem begins to appear again. I am worried that using the steroid cream too much (as I have been applying large amounts) may cause problems and is not really a permanent treatment. A few weeks ago I did notice a slight smell when retracting my foreskin, however am not sure in hindsight if this was just my imagination or actually a problem. Thanks for the help!

Hello,

The rashes on the penis can be due to balanitis or contact dermatitis. Avoid the use of chemical cosmetics or soaps, spermicides, cologne or latex condom that are causing you allergy and rashes. Restrict the amount of carbohydrate and sugar intake to avoid bad odor on retracting the foreskin because sugar in your urine collects under your foreskin where bacteria starts to breed causing rashes and pain. Take care of your hygiene.

Avoid sex for a couple of days to stop recurrence. Your skin is sensitive. Apply a thin layer of Soframycin ointment on the area affected for relieve. You can take acetaminophen, one SOS when required to ease pain and discomfort. You should get relieve, if not you may need a course of antibiotics. To stay on the safer side get STD tests done. Get clinically examined by a GP, your treating doctor may recommend circumcision. You will be treated & managed accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
