General & Family Physician 's  Response
Diabetic patients are prone to infection due to their lowered immunity. Skin irritation is brought upon by a number of things such as dampness, warm barrier environment, bad hygiene, incontinence or infection. Other causes are contact dermatitis, infection mostly staphylococcus, streptococcus and candida, and allergic reaction to fragrances and bits of diaper. The diaper area doesn’t get a chance to dry out or have any exposure to fresh air, having to endure prolonged spells soaking in urine of fecal matter.
Advice
1.     Apply cream containing clobetasol, gentamicin, miconazole (Lobate – GM cream) thrice daily
2.     Capsule amoxicillin 500 mg thrice daily orally for 5 days
3.     Levocetirizine 5 mg daily per oral for 5 days
4.     Do not scratch
5.     Expose the area to fresh air
6.     Avoid wearing undergarment for few days
7.     Keep the area as clean and dry
8.     Avoid using harsh detergents in the cleaning process
9.     Bath with good quality soap
Thanks
