Suggest Treatment For Ratinopathy In Eyes

my mum has been told that her bad eye must be removed or she looses the other one aswell ,wich only sees 10%, that is because she has ratinopathy.
she already had one eye oparation in iran, which seems didn't work at all but she has a very bad head ache sence then.
does she really have to remove her eye in order not to get completly blind from the other one? or is there any hope at all?
saying that though she is in iraq now and doctors there are not very good. that is why we all are a bit uneasy with doctors desicion.
any advice please, any thing that helps, i am in somuch stress right now i can't even sleep because nothing i can do. she is 53 years old
