Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an asthma attack today... Tried to control my systems by using my enhauler and drinking water placing my head down... I drank hot tea tonight feel my lungs are sour and hurts to breath in... I kept my self from going to the ER for breathing treatments... What else can I not to trigger another attack or getting worse?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Treatment of asthma depends on the frequency and severity of symptoms. In some instances the asthma attack follows a seasonal pattern like during spring and autumn. In other asthma follows no pattern and occurs any time irrespective of any seasonal variation. The underlying treatment for asthma aims to dilate the constricted airways. Your inhaler is also dilating the airways. However, in cases where frequency is high and there is no seasonal variation, a steroid may also be required. However, the exact plan of treatment can be decided after clinical assessment. Thus, I suggest you to consult a pulmonogist for clinical assessment followed by appropriate treatment plan.
