Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Dry Hacking Cough Despite Taking Prednisone

I ve had about two weeks of a non-cold (no nasal issues, headache, ache feeling etc.) instead I have a deep hack but have stopped bringing up sputum. My doctor initially put me on vioxin and prednezone which started to really knock it and I faithfully follow the regiment for the duration of the prescription. after being off for a couple of days I noticed I was back to hack and taking some old amoxicilin that I had until I could see my primary again, She has now put me back on Vioxin as well as regiment of Albuteral followed 30 minutes later with taking in Ellipta s Incruse inhaler powder, when I take it I m better for a while however I m still having to live on Ricolla cough Drops at work to get thru the day. I have a female colleague (I m 66 year old male) that has the same thing. My question is a.) what would you call this? (is it a form of Bronchitis?) and based this regiment how long should I expect it to take to get better? It seems like its just dragging along with no significant improvement over a two week period (with several days of no directed prescriptions?

My thoughts and suggestions are as below. Dry hacking cough instead of a course of Vioxin and Prednisolone and a history of similar problem with your colleague indicate that you are getting a recurrent problems due to recurrent infection with viral infection. To answer your questions: This can be called as respiratory infection may be of bacterial and/or viral infection.You can expect about a week to get better provided you are not getting recurrent infection from other people. I would like to advise you the following:

-Take bed rest.
-Avoid exposure to other people, prevention is better than cure.
-Continue the medications as advised by your Doctor.
-Steam inhalation.
