I have a case of pco for 15 yrs. i have one child i was on 4 months of duphaston n metformin before i concieved him. I have not taken metformin in last five yrs reguallrly. I had two miscarriage in less than one yr. i would appreciate i u could tell me if i should take the medications again prior to concieving also i was suggested metformin with shatavari. Will it help
Yes, you should take duphaston and metformin. Duphaston is commonly prescribed to prevent and treat irregular menstrual bleeding, threatened or recurrent miscarriages during pregnancy. And metformin is found to be effective in the treatment of infertility associated with PCO.
Continue taking them again as prescribed. Shatavari is a herbal formulation claimed to be useful in the treatment of infertility however its efficacy has not been proved on any clinical studies.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
