Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Squamous Cell Carcinoma
I am being treated for the remaining wound (pathology show no metastatic cells remaining) after excision of )my second squamous cell carcinoma (different location, but one on each lower leg). I am wondering if there is any connection between skin SCC and other sites, e.g. neck, lungs.... the Web MD article suggest if you have one skin you are likely to get another, and that has proven true for me: my second one is about 2 years after my first. Besides close dermatology checks (3-6 monthly?) are there any blood tests, dna studies, etc I should be having to prevent even worse problems? this one is bad enough: taking more than 2+ months to heal, with improvement hopefully enhanced now with hyperbaric treatments (20 planned for starters). thanks for insight and suggestions. Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Hello, There can be re-occurrence or multi-focal skin cancer. Multi-focal skin cancer is the type of cancer which occurs at multiple locations at one time. You need to consult your dermatologist and oncologist for further treatment of cancer. Treatment depends on the site and size of cancer, stage, lymph node status of cancer. Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
