Suggest Treatment For Recurring UTI

I am 54 years old female. I had my last period last December 2010 and skip for 2 months and again my period came last April and up to present my period hasn't. come.. I had recurrent uti for almost 2 months and thanks it's over now... I had undergone pap smear and found out to have moderate inflammation, predominance coccobacilli. My ob gave me albothyl suppository for the above findings..but such drug has caused me an annoying feeling of itchiness.. Is it a side effect or normal effect of the drug...
