Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain excessive coughing along with phlegm production seems to be due to infection and not allergic reaction
It can be due to causes like Upper respiratory tract infection, Bronchitis, chest infection etc..
Excessive mucous roduction can also be seen in sinus infection or Sinusitis..
The medications advised to you that is decongestant and cough expectorant along with anti inflammatory painkiller Ibuprofen is appropriate medication but in case if there is no considerable improvement you should consult an Otolaryngologist or Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Sputum culture, chest x ray, PNS view of sinuses etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Along with the above advised medications the physician can also advise you to take Antibiotics, amti allergics, cough expectorant syrup and also warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Drink plenty of warm water..
Saline nasal irrigations and steroid nasal sprays can also be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
