Suggest Treatment For Recurring Boil With Hot Flushes
I am an acupuncturist. I have a 49 y.o. female patient who took doxycycline for a boil -- this was her 2nd round of antibiotic. She took another antibiotic in the first round that did not resolve the boil fully. Upon taking the doxy, she has experienced a significant worsening of her hot flashes. They went from mild & infrequent to severe and constant. Is this a possible SE of doxy?
Hi, You are right. Hot flushes is found among people who take Doxycycline, especially in female, 50-59 old , and have been taking the drug for more than one month. Tell her to avoid sun exposure and stop doxycycline. You may go for culture and sensitivity test of pus from the boil and accordingly proper antibiotic may be given to her.
Thanks..
