Suggest Treatment For Recurring Chest Pain

I have been having chest pains on and off for about two months. Sometimes I get a sharp pain and it goes away. A few weeks ago the intense pain lasted for about 3 minutes. When I got out of bed this morning I had discomfort then mild to moderate pains that lasted from about 7:30 to 3:00. I had some chest pressure, and thought maybe I had acid reflux or something. I never have acid reflux. Now the pains are gone. I considered going to the emergency room. Now that the pain is gone, should I still go to the emergency room? Or perhaps consult my doctor to see if he wants to send me to a cardiologist? I turned 50 in March. My father was 40 when he had his first heart attack. I am going out of the country for vacation on Saturday the 16th of May.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, once do an echocardiography and ECG repeatedly if they rule out then will see next things. But these are at least a must.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
