Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having chest pains on and off for about two months. Sometimes I get a sharp pain and it goes away. A few weeks ago the intense pain lasted for about 3 minutes. When I got out of bed this morning I had discomfort then mild to moderate pains that lasted from about 7:30 to 3:00. I had some chest pressure, and thought maybe I had acid reflux or something. I never have acid reflux. Now the pains are gone. I considered going to the emergency room. Now that the pain is gone, should I still go to the emergency room? Or perhaps consult my doctor to see if he wants to send me to a cardiologist? I turned 50 in March. My father was 40 when he had his first heart attack. I am going out of the country for vacation on Saturday the 16th of May.

Hi, Yes, once do an echocardiography and ECG repeatedly if they rule out then will see next things. But these are at least a must. Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
