Suggest Treatment For Recurring Cough For Years

46 yrs. old, 6 "1" 205, Have had cough off and on for years now. have tried over counter meds, family doctor has tried zyrtec, claritin a,d singular, the last one calms it but always comes back. have had it for 6 mths now can't take it anymore, should i be seeing a ear, nose and throat doctor

hello, thanks for your query, long standing cough should be evaluated by xray chest, blood tests, sputum examination. it could be due to allergy, tuberculosis, copd, asthma. you hav not mentioned any associated symptoms like fever , Drug history, lymph node enlargement. any way kindly visit an ent surgeon for the evaluation and treatment. all the best. take care.
