Suggest Treatment For Recurring Headaches

Hi Doc, thanks. I had typhoid and malaria last week, which i have treated accordingly with drugs prescribed by a physician. I am fine now except for the fact that I experience this terrible headache every morning. For the past 4 days after I had fully recovered. The headache usually subsides after noon. Please what can I do about it?

I'm sorry to hear that you had two infectious diseases like that simultaneously.

First of all, certain medicines that you were prescribed for these diseases can cause headache. You can talk to your doctor about that.

Second, if that's not the case, and your doctor does not have any cause for concern to do an MRI or CT scan, then many people can have a post-infectious headache which can appear like any primary like migraine. These can be difficult to treat sometimes. The medicines involved are usually preventative, something in the antiseizure family or a medicine like amitriptyline. These are taken daily to help keep the headache from returning.

Some people use a medicine like doxycycline for at least 3 months to help.
