Suggest Treatment For Recurring Hives And Heartburns Causing Chest Pain

I break out in hives everyday three or four times away, also have heartburn causing server chestpiains at times. This has been going on for about five months, have taken a over the counter allergy med which takes the hives anyway for a few days. I have never had any allergies before and am over fifty.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, It sounds like you have idiopathic urticaria. A fancy name for a sort of allergy problem causing hives. We are not always able to find the cause for this and it is usually treated with a daily non-sedating antihistamine like loratadine and a daily or twice daily H2 blocker like ranitidine. Try this for a few weeks and see if it helps you get rid of the problem. If it does not then see an allergist for testing.
