Suggest Treatment For Recurring Sciatica

My husband had another bout of sciatica this weekend. He has some pain pills that he took the last time he had this 3 months ago. The medication is oxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325mg tablets. He has been taking 2 every 8 hours. This isn t helping the pain. Could he do 3 tablets every 8 hrs?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Taking pain killer medicine in Sciatica is not the solution for his problem.
He requires to go for proper diagnosis of having sciatica like lumbar spine spondilitis.
Go for x-ray lumbo-sacral region and if require MRI.
After all reports plan of treatent like physiotherapy, lumbar traction or surgical intervention.
Meanwhile give him pain reliever as and when required.
Ok and take care.
