Suggest Treatment For Recurring Swelling In Shin After Injury
Im a wrestling coach and 5 days ago a kid during practice. Landed with his knee. Full falling force on the side of my shin above the ankle. Swelling comes and goes as expected. But has not gone away. Now there is bruising or blood build up on the side of my foot towards the inside by the heel and below the ankle. Why?? Need check?? Should i worry?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain due to sudden impact there has been injury to the soft tissues of the lower part of shin and also there seems to be rupture of capillaries leading to hematoma formation and bruising. The swelling is also due to inflammation of the injured tissue leading to accumulation of inflammatory exudate, inflammatory cells, broken and damaged fibres and ruptured capillaries.. I would suggest you to apply a Heparin ointment over the bruised area, apply a numbing gel to relieve pain.do alternate warm and cool compresses and take anti-inflammatory painkiller Ibuprofen.. Elevate your leg while lying down..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
