Suggest Treatment For Recurring Thrush Infection And Athletes Foot?
Hi, for about the last 6 months I have had a thrush infection that keeps coming back. When I first noticed it I went to my GP and he gave me a Clotrimazoll cream to use, this seems to clear it up briefly but it keeps returning. I have had a full sexual health check and been tested for diabetes since and they have all come back negative. I also have had athletes foot for some time as well and I'm not sure if this could be related? Is there anything else I can try to get rid of this? Thanks in advance.
One of the main reason for this is diabetes which you already have ruled out.
The other possibility is inadequate treatment and sustained predisposing factor.
I usually recommend my patients to take a course of oral antifungals like tab fluconazole 150 mg once a week for atleast 2 weeks along with topical therapies.
Consideration can be given to start other drugs like itraconazole, terbinafine in non responsive cases.
Keep the part clean and dry.
With such details, this is my best advice for you. you can discuss it with your dermatologist, i hope he/she will agree with my opinion.
Thanks.
