Suggest Treatment For Red Blood Shot Eyes In A Child

My 9yr old son s eyes have been red blood shot for two weeks now. In the morning it is not so bad but gradually gets worse as the day goes on. The redness is almost like a line going horizontally across the eyes. We thought it was perhaps sunblock or allergies. Claritin did not help. Our Ped gave us drops to treat it as an infection but it s not helping. He does not complain about them, only the Vigamox drops sting a bit. The opthalmologist can not see him for a month and I am worried.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your 9 year old son is having redness of the eyes for last 2 weeks.
This can be because of inflammation of the eye in the form of conjunctivitis.
The treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops. Vigamox is a antibiotic eye drop and you can continue it as advised by your doctor.
If the treatment is not resolving you need to use decongestant eye drops and consult ophthalmologist to rule out allergic condition.

Thank you
