Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a red painless relatively large red bump on the inside of my upper lip. Right in the edge, it's inside but it looks like my lip is swollen a little from the outside. I can't find any information about anything like this and I have had the same sort of bump in the past on other areas of my lips. I am also pretty sure it is not a mucocele.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain a red painless lump on the inside of the lip is most probably a Mucocele that is formed due to clogging of the duct of salivary gland or due to ruptured duct of minor salivary gland leading to accumulation of mucous into the soft tissues, thus forming a lump... When the mucocele is deeper located it will be reddish in colour and not bluish in colour which might be making you feel that it is not a mucocele.. But still it can be confirmed after a thorough clinical evaluation by an Oral Surgeon.. In case if it is a mucocele that is persistent and does not resolve on its own surgical removal will be advisable.. As of now you can do concentrated salt water rinses as it will help in regression of lump...
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
