Suggest Treatment For Red Colored Swelling In The Shin
I have a knee injury and I am having surgery this Tuesday. (Tore my patellar tendon). I have been wearing a brace waiting for the surgery. I have developed Some swelling, reddish, and it s warm on my shin. I thought it might be a blood clot but it s only on my shin. Everything I have looked up says it s probably not a blood clot if it is in my shin. My calf and foot has none of these symptoms.
You have a history of injury with patellar tendon tear. It is good to know that you have been clinically examined and waiting for surgery. Though you are wearing a brace do not strain unnecessarily. Stay at rest and when on bed keep your affected leg on a pillow for better comfort. Keep the affected leg on a stool when you are sitting.
The red colored swelling on your shin after the injury may be indicative of inflammation of the vein due to blood clot, hematoma below the skin or bruise. You can apply ointment Thrombophob on the affected area to reduce the blood clot, decrease pain, swelling and speed up healing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
